"Ordered a rifle from their website, good cost, very short shipping time, and they made the whole process very easy... Everyone I spoke to was very kind and seemed passionate about what they do."- Ayres
If you purchase a firearm out of state, federal law requires that the firearm be transferred through an FFL (Federal Firearm License) Dealer. The firearm is shipped to us, and we transfer the firearm to you.
- We will only allow transfer to the person listed on the invoice of the delivered product.
- The customer must be of legal age, a Texas resident with a valid Texas Driver’s License or Texas ID with a photo and your current address (No P.O. Boxes). Military ID with Current Orders are also acceptable. Utility Bills, Texas LTC Cards, Restricted Driver’s License, Limited Driver’s License, or Hunting Licenses are not valid/acceptable forms of ID.
- You will be required to pass the required criminal background check before receiving your transfer. If you fail the criminal background check, you will be required to pay the shipping charges to return the firearm back to the original sender.
- No one else is allowed to come in and pick up a firearm for you. Do not ask someone to pick up your gun for you. This is illegal and considered a straw purchase. See the link for details. Click on www.atf.gov/firearms/dont-lie-other-guy for more information.
Please note that we receive transfers on a daily basis and there is paperwork required by the federal government for each firearm. This process is completed as soon as possible, but, does not happen immediately upon receipt. A notification from the carrier does not mean that we have processed your transfer. Until you are notified by The Range in McKinney, your firearm is NOT ready for pickup. We will make sure your firearm get into your hands safely and in a timely fashion and will notify you when your firearm is ready for pickup.

When dealing with firearms regulated under the National Firearms Act (NFA), the term Class 3 refers to Federal Firearms Licensees (FFL) like The Range|McKinney who have paid special taxes to become a third-tier Special Occupational Taxpayer (SOT). The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) regulates NFA firearms, devices and accessories and restricts the sale, manufacturing and import of specific FFL dealers.
When you wish to purchase any weapon that falls into these definitions:
Machine guns: Any firearm that shoots, is designed to shoot or can be altered to shoot automatically with a single trigger operation without manual reloading.
Short-Barreled Shotguns: Shotguns with a barrel less than 18 inches long or an overall length less than 26 inches.
Short-Barreled Rifles: Rifles with an overall length of less than 26 inches or a barrel overall length of less than 16 inches.
Silencers: Devices designed to reduce the sound of a portable firearm.
Generally, for the manufacture of NFA items, ATF Form 5320-1 must be submitted to the ATF for transfer of a NFA item (from a person or entity lawfully entitled to transfer it (Class 3 dealer) to yourself, or any entity (Gun Trust or LLC) then the ATF Form 5320-4 must be submitted to the ATF. Of all the NFA firearms (silencers, machine guns, short barrel rifles, short barrel shotguns, and any other weapon (AOW) and destructive devices), machine guns are the most restricted by different states. Check your own state’s rules on the ownership of these weapons. A few states such as New York and California have provisions in the state laws that prohibit ownership of all Title II weapons and devices. A few states only allow possession of NFA items defined as curios and relics list and with compliance to NFA requirements. Most states allow legal ownership of all NFA items, if the owner has complied with the federal registration for private ownership.
Citizens can purchase NFA firearms through FFL dealers with Class 3 SOT permits despite their restrictions. Some items, like silencers, are illegal to own in some states. If you want to transfer an NFA item to The Range|McKinney you must have a valid Texas Driver’s License. No Limited Term Licenses allowed. Suppressors require a Gun Trust or Form 4 paperwork.
After finding a certified dealer and selecting your desired firearm, you must obtain approval from the ATF. This approval comes as a tax stamp, which you can receive after submitting the ATF Form 4, paying a $200 tax and passing background checks. It can usually take around 10 months or longer to get everything together before obtaining your firearm.
